Very Relaxing
My partner and I went to the Old England Hotel for a relaxing break and to celebrate my birthday. We had a great time.( Despite the rain! ) I can't fault anything, the staff were great, the location and facilities were excellent and the food we had was top quality. We went on a saver deal mid- week and it was excellent value for money.
Spa getaway
Two night getaway, enjoyed it, fabulous evening meal but breakfast was average, waiters not the friendliest.
Spa was nice but don t agree with small children being in there, not very telaxing as that was the purpose of our break
Room was lovely but could of done with a few more toiletries for the price
Hotel very clean
Beautiful hotel over looking Windermere
Right in the middle of the town, with plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops, hotel over looking the lake, it s very picturesque, perfect for a couple
Very poor for the cost.
No parking available on arrival, was told to go & find a public car park. Room was poor considering I paid to upgrade. Room was the furthest away from reception 301, my wife is disabled & so struggled. the shower took about ten minutes to reach a tepid temperature. The only decent thing was the food however you have to pay a premium to get the decent stuff. We were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary & we were very disappointed overall. I certainly won t be going back.
Very nice hotel everything you need on the doorstep
Not sure what it would be like in peak season could see it being very busy, just for where it is.
Overpriced and underwhelming
Stayed for two nights would not return. PROS Fabulous staff, great spa treatment, fabulous location dog friendly CONS Very average breakfast, I have never been anywhere that expects you to pay a supplement for smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or eggs Benedict.. Breakfast on the second morning there was only one member of staff on duty due to staff sickness, the poor lady was at her wits end trying to serve 40 people. A manager should have stepped in to help if no one else was available. Quality was on a part with a Travelodge not what I would expect from a hotel that rates itself as 4 star. Bedrooms and public areas are very tired and dates. Bathrooms don t even give you any toiletries, a generic shower gel nailed to the wall and a small bar of soap doesn t scream luxury to me. Scuffed furniture marks on carpet, gaffer tape holding bits of carpet down in central areas the whole place needs a refurb. The restaurant is very dated as well. We had the other car menu on the second night which was absolutely delicious, but phenomenally expensive i.e. mains upward of 30 before sides. Sneakily they don t put any prices on the menu that is in reception so you re sitting duck. Only 4 cocktails on the bar menu and no training for the young staff to make anything new, I did however teach one how to make a negroni also the wine list is awful. I have stayed in a few of peak luxury hotels and this was the worst one, the location is incredible, but the hotel is average at best

Not impressed
this was our second stay at the hotel. our food was cold, no waiter to ask for help, had to walk into reception carrying my plate with meal on it to ask for it to be warmed up. initially, we waited almost 45 minutes for our meal after we ordered. another guest complained about his meal and the waiter was arguing with him..not a nice experience at all
