Wonderful short break

Mike C, Lancashire, stayed: November 2023

Just stayed for one night, but couldn't have been happier. Arrived early and left the car in the car park to explore Bowness. Our room was well appointed with a bath and shower and a very comfortable bed. Dinner was excellent with plenty of choice and superb quality. Breakfast was equally delicious with magnificent views over Windermere. We've already booked again.

Fabulous stay

PC, Cumbria, stayed: November 2023

From the minute we entered the hotel we were made to feel rate the staff highly enough. The ambience, everything was perfect. We had drinks in bar service was excellent. Ate in restaurant, beautiful, fabulous scenic views over the lake/gardens. Lovely relaxing lounges with gorgeous setees/chairs etc
Room was lovely (room 50) definitely worth the upgrade. Everything you need available.
Will definitely recommend and be returning

Room was small but had everything we needed. We were given the opportunity to upgrade. Hotel was clean, welcoming and festive. Food was great. A good value for money stay.

Mr and Mrs Gaunt

Deborah G, Flintshire, stayed: December 2023

Service in restaurant lacking, not very attentive, ordered salmon salad with anchovies but no anchovies! No one came to see if meal was ok until at end of meal, when clearing up explained to waiter who just looked embarrassed, was shocked when food bill arrived surcharges added up to 50 , was not clear what was and wasn t included in meal, breakfast was very poor, ordered bacon and sausage bap, dry overcooked bap, dry single rasher of bacon and a sausage cut in half, very stingy !
Definitely would not eat there again!
Room was ok just a long walk as right at far end of hotel, no one offered to carry bags

Belsfield Hotel

Anon, stayed: December 2023

We had a two night relaxing stay with lake cruise included which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our room was a bit small and out on a limb however the furnishings were tasteful and the bathroom was luxurious. I ran myself a bath but the plug kept wanting to float so I ended up holding it with my hand until the bath had fully run then I had to hold it with my foot while having the bath to keep it in place! We had a three course meal included in our stay on the first night. Whilst this was a nice gesture we would have appreciated a more down to earth menu as we struggled to find something to our liking, maybe a chicken dish. Breakfast was buffet style but you could order a cooked breakfast if you wished to have one. The breakfasts arrived quickly and were tasty but the bacon was always a bit dry and hard, we assumed it had been kept warm under a heat lamp and this was the reason. There was a nice assortment of cold choices for breakfast, one being a fruit salad which we enjoyed on the first morning, however on the second morning it was nowhere to be consistency would have been nice. We found the staff very helpful and pleasant throughout our stay and the ambience of the hotel was inviting, calm and relaxing. We would return to this hotel again as the view and location was excellent, however a more varied menu would be appreciated.

In need of refurbishment

DJ, North Yorkshire, stayed: December 2023

Free dinner on first night was very poor. Both ordered souffle as a starter and received a charred concoction in a dish. Any decent chef would not have let that starter leave the kitchen even the waiter looked embarassed.
Dinner menu poor but they redeemed themselves with the breakfast which was good.
Room poor, old furniture, chipped sink in the bathroom, windows with plantation blinds that did not open or close properly. Definitely in need of refurbishment which spoilt the overall experience.
Staff were lovely, location is beautiful and handy for lake trips and Bowness centre.
Would definitely stay here again after it has undergone refurbishment as the room spoilt the experience.
