A nice 2 night break

We had a nice 2 night stay but I object to paying 15 per night for parking, when it is free if you book direct with the hotel.

Stay at the Belsfield Hotel

On the day we were due to arrive scaffolding was being erected so we were upgraded to another hotel nearby ( The lakes hotel and spa ) this was excellent.
On our arrival at the Belsfield we were told of a 15 car park charge per night. Although we were informed this was in the small print it must have been very small. I do not recall it in the booking information through country hotel breaks. This really would have influenced our decision to stay at the hotel and I would have preferred to put this money towards an upgrade. As a result we chose not to spend any money in the hotel and only ate the very good breakfast that was included.
The room was standard and dated but comfortable. The lounges and restaurant were pleasing. The location was excellent.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the best part of our stay.

Excellent location, hotel warm and staff friendly and helpful

The hotel is in an excellent location and easy access to both the lake and town. Although It was warm and clean I feel the whole hotel could do with a bit of TLC, having said that we enjoyed our stay there and would definitely consider it again.
One other point I was a little disappointed with was having to pay 15 per night to park my car. I understand why this is the case (no doubt many people staying don't arrive in cars) but 15 !!!

Disappointed

Although there was only four occupied tables in the restaurant we had to wait 25 minute to be served, not even asked if we would like a drink! The room was ok (room 76) no view but pleasant enough, the issue was the corridor leading to the room, it had a strong open sewer type smell. We pointed out our complaints to reception but got a pretty unsympathetic response. On this basis I would not recommend this hotel.

Lovely views and grounds

Lovely hotel and views across Lake, the grounds are beautiful, staff Lovely, first impressions of room was that it looked dated and tired but it was comfortable.

Very expensive

Paid over 500 for 2 nights in the garden room. Definitely not worth the money, small room with a door that opens onto a shared garden that can t be accessed due to it being on a hill. Can t go out the patio door as can t lock from outside.
Charged twice for my dog, once at booking and the hotel charged again!
