Lovely three night stay
We chose this hotel for its fine dining and it didn t disappoint , although the menu doesn t change frequently and so three days was enough.
The rooms are large and very comfortable.
The staff are all friendly, attentive and welcoming
We are recomminding this hotel to friends and we will return ourselves

Great stay but small point re the biscuits supplied with the room tea /coffee which appeared to be somewhat frugal for a hotel of your standing..
Only one each was supplied on our first two nights and none on our 3rd and 4th nights !
Would have been nice having been out all day to have had a more adequate supply to accompany our
refreshments.
Calm, comfortable hotel with superb restaurant
Booked a stay for a special occasion and it did feel like a treat

We had an excellent 2 nights at the hotel
Excellent in every way
Rothay Manor really is the real deal. Excellent in every way - restaurant, food, dog-friendliness, lovely staff. There are fabulous walks from its doorstep and it s a short walk into Ambleside so you just can t go wrong!

All excellent, but expensive at 760 for two nights Dinner Bed and Breakfast.
Great staff - poor location
Amazing staff & amazing food, unfortunately hotel let down by the location which to all intents and purposes is on a roundabout! Had the garden suite with hot tub, over 500 per night to sit in the hot tub and watch the traffic go by and listen to the car noise, the added bonus though is you can wave from your hot tub to the people on the bus as they go past! As for garden, read terrace with direct access to anyone from the new carpark. The staff and the food however are this hotels saving grace , so friendly & helpful and the food was just delicious. If carlsberg did staff these would be it .
Ruby Wedding
We stayed to celebrate our Ruby Wedding. Nice touch was a card in our room acknowledging this, however it would have been nice to have been given a complimentary drink or personal acknowledgement for the occasion at evening meal.
On check out I was presented with the full bill that had not been adjusted by the full deposit for room and meals package paid some 3 months in advance, this then took time to verify and agreed! Restaurant staff were very good, but having tipped individually at the end of our stay, I was disappointed that a service charge had also been added automatically to our bill - this should always be at the discretion of the guest!
Menu was very limited, the choice should be changed at least once for a 3 day stay, especially over a weekend.
