Rothay Manor is actually a 5 or 10 min walk from the centre of Ambleside. We think that provides the best of both worlds. Should you want to amble in to town you can do so, and for the evening retreat back to your cosy country home for dinner. There really is no better place locally to dine.....

History of the hotel
Built in 1823 by a wealthy merchant from Liverpool, and converted to a hotel in 1936, Rothay Manor is steeped in history, and still retains many delightful Regency features.
Child Policy
A maximum of one extra bed can be accommodated in most rooms with an additional charge of £50 per child per night on a bed and breakfast basis.
Cots are free of charge.
A children's menu is available until 7pm, after 7pm the a la carte menu for children is available in the restaurant.
Dogs Policy
The price for dogs £30 per dog per stay, and this is limited to 2 dogs only per room. Please contact our team before booking so that they may ensure a pet friendly bedroom is available for your stay.
There are 8 dog-friendly Classic bedrooms, all with either external access or a small enclosed courtyard, for your dogs' enjoyment. Dogs are not permitted in the restaurant but there are 2 lounges that are dog friendly and you can dine with your pets. If there is any excessive damage such as chewing, or fouling in the bedrooms/public spaces then there will be a fair charge for the cost of deep-cleaning.
You are welcome to exercise your dog (on a lead) in the gardens and waste bins are provided for your convenience. There are more walks then we can mention from the doorstep of Rothay Manor so please do ask if you need any advice on where to walk.
The Rooms at Rothay Manor
Classic room
There are two classic bedrooms, both recently refurbished and styled with a country-house feel with feature wood-panelling, Sanderson wallpapers and Farrow & Ball paints. The super-king sized beds are handmade in Yorkshire by Harrison Spinks.
The accessible bedroom, located on the ground floor, has a bathroom with large walk-in shower and a spacious sitting area. The other classic bedroom, also on the ground floor, has a small courtyard garden, and a bathroom with bath and separate shower (please note this room is located next to Rothay Bridge, so may be affected by some traffic noise). Both of our classic rooms are dog friendly.

The newly renovated Superior rooms feature luxurious bathrooms with baths and separate showers, bespokely designed by Stonewood Bathrooms.
Each room has been individually styled with love and care. The walls are decorated in Morris & Co and SandBerg wallpapers, and Farrow & Ball paints.

FAIRFIELD
The are two spacious suites. Fairfield is situated within the hotel and features a large bedroom with bathroom, a separate lounge and a small bedroom with a cabin bed and a single bed, perfect for families with young children.
A small cottage within the garden houses the Loughrigg suite, with private parking and shared garden, ideal for a romantic escape or a family get-away. Loughrigg boasts 2 bedrooms, a contemporary bathroom and a separate lounge with electric feature fire.

The room has a super king size double, and can be twinned if necessary. The bathroom has underfloor heating, a freestanding bath and separate shower.
Pavilion Garden suite
Newly launched, each suite in the Pavilion building house has been individually designed featuring a warm, inviting colour palette with a nod to mid-century design. Featuring spacious rooms with en-suites , each room has a courtyard garden for your furry friend to explore.
