Fabulous

A wonderful hotel with elegant contemporary decor, beautiful rooms, lovely staff and absolutely fabulous food. Great situation with good parking and an easy stroll into the centre of Ambleside. Just lovely. Oh and some delicious cocktail choices!

Wonderful stay

We had a fabulous couple of days here, I highly recommend it!

Very disappointed

Expected better. The hotel and rooms were decorated nicely and forgetting the fact that the shower was too low to be able to stand up in the rooms were to a decent standard. Considering the price I was very surprised at the lack of channels the sky box included, being less than available on a free view box.

My main complaint was the service in the restaurant, having paid for an expensive bottle of wine to celebrate the staff made a mistake and poured the table next to us our wine instead of theirs.

Once they realised they apologised but expected us to sort it out between ourselves. When I raised the issue, the waiter then attempted to just pour us some of the next tables wine in return.

Eventually we were offered a small glass of wine instead however it had to be a different wine as they could only provide it from a wine that comes by the glass. This was disappointing considering the standard they say they deliver. It was then added to by the fact we heard the staff discussing it behind us saying that we should have just been happy taking wine from the table next to us as they had some of ours. It was shambolic to say the least.

It was a shame as the food was good. Just the staff and their attitude was not!

the hotel was up to expectations
We were greeted by friendly receptionist after our long journey and soon found at home,
Room very clean and recently had received a make over. We would have liked a little more wardrobe and storage space but only staying 4 nights we managed with luggage we had.
Food excellent and served in very good manner. we were celebrating our diamond wedding anniversary this hotel helped make it a success

Fantastic room and hotel, very friendly staff and the most amazing food!

The new normal

The management & staff have done a great job in making a stay at Rothay Manor as normal as possible.
A friendly & efficient staff and full marks to the cleaning staff - the rooms are spotless.
Food good.
Only one suggestion ,please put some comfortable seating in Skelwith. The settee was more like a lightly covered wooden bench.
All in all ,I would recommend a stay here with good walking from the door.

Fantastic staff

We stayed at the hotel for one night with our dog, included in our package was the ala carte menu. The staff were excellent the room was fantastic with fresh milk for the tea. The room had outside space with table and chairs that was well appreciated. My only criticism was the food, and the speed of service. We booked a table for 19.15 and were still at our table three hours later. The desert was great but the other courses were poor in my opinion. I would definitely stay at the hotel again but would walk into town for a meal.
