Disappointing stay

Elaine, Lancashire, stayed: July 2021

The hotel is tired. Room was dusty and stained carpet, no toilet roll or tissues and when reception was informed about this situation, they forgot about it until prompted again. The breakfast was brought out before we had started our cereal therefore was put under warming lamp ( I m assuming ) until we had finished, by the time it was brought out again it was inedible.
The bar staff however were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble

A little disappointed

Alison, Cumbria, stayed: December 2021

We arrived at 5, room 18 ground floor. To get to the room we were led through the restaurant into a corridor full of unused chairs, hardly a luxury entrance, into a cold corridor into a cold room. We turned on the additional heater and got ready for dinner, room still cold. To get to restaurant we had to go up a floor right across the hotel and back down as the restaurant door on our side was locked. The food was posh pub grub nothing special on the menu, to be fair it sounded like a staffing issue. After dinner went back to room it was still not warm. At that time of night we didn t want to make a fuss.
This was our wedding anniversary, we used the voucher that was given to me for my 60th birthday in May. In total the one night dinner bed and breakfast cost over 280, definitely not good value for money, very disappointing indeed. I did tell the receptionist when we left and she did apologise but said we should of told them the night before, we didn t feel that we should of even been in a position where we needed to mention it, a warm room is basic stuff.
We were married at the Hotel 4 years ago and everything was perfect, this felt like overpriced cheap seats. Very underwhelming. I did fill in a review that the hotel sent, unfortunately not a peep back from the hotel.

Great location,terrible room

Daniel B, Northamptonshire, stayed: September 2021

We stayed for two nights at the belsfueld in sept 2021.
The location of the hotel is great and the views from the garden were fabulous.
The staff were friendly and the food in the restaurant good.
The room however was a different story. We've booked various hoteld via this website several times before and they have on the whole been great.we stayed in the classic double room. The room was very small, with none of the luxury touches i would expect from this type of hotel. The window looked straight out into the front rooms of the people next door. For the price we paid I was incredibly disappointed and would not recommend it

BELSFIELD HOTEL BOWNESS

Anon, stayed: July 2021

Room not ready until 4.15 yet check in is from 3pm. Excellent location overlooking Lake Windermere and the weather was just perfect, However the hotel is very much over priced and we won't be going back any time soon. Paid 420.00 for one night dinner bed & breakfast in a lake view room with a boat trip included. No leisure facilities at this hotel. No a la carte menu just general menu in the restaurant. Room service menu was very much the same. We had 35pp credit towards meal but we had to then pay an extra 10 supplement for a steak & frozen chips and 8 supplement for salmon. Not what we expected to have to pay extra!!!! Normal price for sirloin steak was 29!!!! Breakfast was disappointing and more could have been put on the plate. I asked for poached eggs and tomatoes. It came with one tiny poached egg and half a small tomato! Room needs extra attention..... Dusty light bulbs by side of bed and dust on the chrome towel rail. Other than that it was ok. I'm sure there are better hotels in the lakes offering better facilities for less money..

High expectations . . .

AJ, Cheshire, stayed: August 2021

My expectations for this hotel fell a little flat. I don't think that hospitality venues should be using Covid as an excuse for poor service, lack of staff etc. Covid is here to stay and organisations should know this by now and respond accordingly. Our stay was lovely no doubt about that, but because of our activities during the day.

The main disappointment was the 'cold' welcome we received from the check in staff, who were scarce to say the least - we had to wait 10-12 minutes before it was even acknowledged that we had arrived as there was no reception staff at the check in desks at all? The staff in the restaurant and bar were excellent, but it was obvious, particularly on the first morning, that they were short of staff, this improved on the second and third mornings. I don't think the hotel is luxurious because it doesn't have any additional facilities such as pool, spa etc. The location is lovely and view of the lake is beautiful from the terrace area of the hotel, we also had a lake view room. I would add that there was a problem with gulls or pigeon activity on the roof area above our room. This caused some disturbance and woke me at night.

Beautiful lakes

AL, Lancashire, stayed: March 2022

The belsfield has an imposing presence overlooking the lake. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good, though not serving full menu! Public areas good. Room on small side and internet poor in room. Would stay again.

Special birthday break ruined

GL, Lincolnshire, stayed: August 2022

Ours stay was 'highjacked' by there being a wedding on both nights - the first night (18 August) was particularly busy and noisy. This meant that we were unable to take advantage of the bar and lounge areas. It also meant that breakfast was akin to being on a cruise, with queuing, etc. Overall, not luxurious or relaxing.

Birthday Celebration Disappointed

Anon, stayed: September 2022

I booked the hotel to celebrate my friends
70th birthday. The hotel gave us an upgrade
to a Garden Room which was a surprise. However the
room was in need of a refurbishment
from the bedding to the furniture. The walls
were very thin so hence noisy from the room
attached. I was very upset as I had booked
This as a surprised but not with a negative reaction from
our friends. I will not be returning to the hotel.
I did complain but all I got was sorry about
that . I dread to think what the Double Room
Looked like!!
