Lovely Lindeth Hiwe

Mary, Dunbartonshire, stayed: April 2023

Very much enjoyed our stay. However, some minor changes since our last stay several years ago eg no amuse bouche or sorbets. Hotel charging for coffee after dinner etc. Dinner menu limited for choice, although food excellent. However, tea, coffee and biscuits available in room. Rooms lovely and clean. Staff helpful especially the gardener. Hopefully will return soon.

Enjoyable stay. I had requested a lake view but room didn t have one; staff were happy to help and change room but we opted to stay where we were as bed was standard size and the lake could just be seen in the distance. Room and bathroom were clean and good choice of tea and coffee with biscuits. Accessories in room (cushions, lamps) did not appear high quality but room was large with nice view of pretty gardens. Easy waking distance into Bowness.
Hotel decor was interesting and rather unusual. Plenty of places to sit and relax. i think the theme could be toned down a little as it was a bit much in places. Restaurant was spacious and the pianist was a pleasant touch.
High tea provided as part of deal was ok; open sandwiches were not good but scones were lovely. Evening meal was ok, red mullet starter was very dry but guinea fowl was nice and panna cotta desert was delicious. Breakfast was excellent, especially the granola.
Service was good, friendly and helpful, but more training would help improve things. No one checked if food was ok or asked if we enjoyed it and small note would be that bar staff need training on serving a gin and tonic, as both times they added all the bottle of tonic to my drink.
I would probably stay here again but not sure if I would recommend it to others.

Lovely stay again at this small hotel

Mary C, Dunbartonshire, stayed: April 2024

stayed here many times over the years and generally doesn't disappoint. However, the accessible room could do with some grab rails on the walls leading from the door to the bedroom. Also the table for cases is too slidy. I would also like some railings for the steps leading into the gardens. All in all, one of my favourite hotels.

60th birthday weekend

Anon, stayed: September 2023

We stayed at Lindeth Howe with our eldery parents for my husband's 60th birthday. The accessible room on the ground floor is well equipped. We arrived to sunshine and a delicious afternoon tea. There are interesting reminders of Beatrix Potter everywhere in the hotel. The gardens are lovely and it's only a short walk down to Windermere Marina and the Lake. The food in the restaurant and breakfast is great. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The falconer showing a selection of his birds of prey on Sunday morning was another highlight. Thank you!

Hotel of charm in the Lake District

AJ, Wiltshire, stayed: September 2023

A beautiful hotel set in idyllic surroundings. The dining service was excellent but slightly disappointed on two fronts. The tables for two were in a line and felt a bit like an old people s home. If you put a steak on the menu, it should be succulent. I left half.

Our romantic break at Lindeth Howe, Bowness on Windermere

Anon, stayed: October 2023

We enjoyed our stay at Lindeth Howe, despite the bad weather - it rained nearly all the time we were there. It meant we had to take the car and visit National Trust properties in the vicinity, as it was too wet to walk locally. We had prepared for this as we are familiar with the Lakes weather!
We had a lovely room at the hotel with a very comfortable large bed and cosy chairs to sit by the window, overlooking the spacious garden. To welcome us was a beautiful basket of flowers, a bottle of Prosecco and a box of truffles - all delicious. We were a little disappointed with the restaurant, billed as AA 2 Rosettes. We would have said, more like up-market pub food, although the dessert I had on the 2 nights we stayed was delicious and very imaginative.
