Not up to previous visits
I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions but felt that this visit was not as good as in the past.
Asked if we required the room to be serviced replied yes but on returning to our room on the second day found this had not been done on asking reception why was informed that the room service had not been recorded on their computer. I would expect all rooms to be serviced unless requested not too.
There was no hot water in any rooms on the second morning until after 8am.
The bill was wrong with extra charges added and had to be corrected (could have been delt with better staff were not very pleasant even though it was their fault).
Some staff were very pleasant but a couple could smile a bit more often and could do with more training on dealing with customers

Hotel excellent, room excellent. Unpleasant staff in restaurant and bar spoilt are stay apart from the young girl who served breakfast. We felt we were a nuisance and inconvenience to them.
Not what we expected from Lindeth Howe
Lindeth Howe sounds wonderful with it's Beatrix Potter history but I'm afraid that it didn't live up to expectation atall.
The location is fine but the hotel itself is odd.
The reception is most unprepossessing being not a lot more than a few tables in a room off the hall.
The bedroom looked tired, the curtains were missing many hooks, so hung oddly.
The bathroom was very nice and modern but strangely had individual hot and cold taps so the lovely hot water was not really enjoyed.
We have never seen so many plastic plants, some in pots on the floor and others in bizarre hanging baskets in one of the eating rooms, the odd plant that was real was dying for lack of water.
The main restaurant was laid out rather like an old people's home, tables all in lines
The staff were very polite and helpful but none of the staff in the hotel had any form of uniform; jeans and lumberjack shirts, some half tucked in for some staff, was odd. Simple 'uniform' would have looked so much better and created a different atmosphere.
The meals had all the makings of being very good, with obviously very good ingredients but almost without exception they were too busy and had sauces or some vegetables that simply distracted from the quality of the basic meal, cost could have been saved and meals enhanced.
The general decor is very unusual and really has to be seen to understand our comment.
Overall, I'm afraid Lindeth Howe was just not what we expected and left us very disappointed indeed, it simply didn't reflect the pictures online or the reviews we read before booking.
Would not recommend.
Poor value for money
Disappointed considering such positive reviews by previous visitors. When emailed to book our dinner reservations hotel staff apparently could not find my booking and I had to send my booking reservation confirmation document as proof. We were given a cramped small room with very partial view of the lake. Windows unable to open, dated furniture and very basic bathroom facilities and this apparently was the deluxe room we paid for. Poor room service e.g toiletries not replenished, rooms not cleaned during our stay as far as we can tell. Felt rushed with our evening meals as we were told chef was taking last orders and this was at 9pm which we had prebooked. Staff I felt were not welcoming or particularly friendly. Afternoon tea was not what it was made up to be. Scones were dry and tasteless. Cost over 490.00 excluding drinks which should have included 5 course evening dinner (for the value 48 per person) but we were asked to pay a supplement for our steak dinner on 1st night. Will not return to this establishment
Very upsetting experience
We spent almost 300 on a one night, afternoon tea, dinner, B&B stay. Afternoon tea and dinner were lovely. Disturbed around 3.30 am by people coming in to the room next door.. TV blaring etc. Eventually had to bang on their door. We're convinced it was hotel staff but hotel claims not. Very poor and disappointing final reply from hotel manager. Ignored my request to reimburse accommodation cost for the night (I'm happy to have paid for dinner).. even Premier Inn would have offered that with no quibble. We saved up for this one night as a 50th birthday treat.. and it was ruined.. hotel manager seems unable to appreciate how upsetting it is. Am sending a final letter to the hotel
