Lovely hotel
Booked a 2 night stay with 5 course dinner, B&B.
Called the hotel before our stay to confirm our booking and also book a Lakes tour which the lady on the reception sorted for us and was very helpful.
Arrived and checked in, quick and easy check-in, got to our room which was on the top floor. Large room with a fantastic side view of the lake. The room was a little tired in places, but this didn t ruin our stay. The bed valance was a bit grubby, the bathroom sink was coming away from the wall.
Afternoon tea was included in our stay, which we really enjoyed on arrival.
The hotel location was perfect, 10 min walk to the lake and little town with lots of shops and cafes.
The 5 course dinner was nice, however the pork belly was overly fatty, and the duck on the second night was under cooked and rubbery so had to send it back. But overall the food was nice.
Breakfast on both days was ok, the portion of scrabbled eggs and smoked salmon was very small, so had to fill up on toast and fruit.
The bedroom was very warm at night, slept with the window open as the radiators didn t turn off. Had to ask for a mattress topper for the second night as the springs in the mattress were very uncomfortable.
We chose this hotel as it stated on the website that dogs were not allowed in the hotel, as I have a severe allergy. We were very surprised to see a large dog in the bar restaurant on the first night, and disappointed to say the least.
Overall a lovely stay, but the hotel bedrooms are tired in places and could do with a bit of maintenance.
A pleasant stay under difficult circumstances.
Can I say that we have nothing but praise for Off Peak Luxury. The contact we had before departure regarding details surrounding meal times and an issue appertaining to a deluxe afternoon tea, gave us confidence in our agent.
Lindeth Howe, is a wonderful grand quirky hotel, the reception staff were wonderful and despite obvious difficulties with storms the previous weekend, they were resolutely upbeat and helpful. We were greeted by newly hung Christmas decorations. We were early and had our afternoon tea on our arrival. This was booked for 1.20pm but didn t arrive until 2pm, which threw us out a little as we booked our evening meal for 6.20pm. When our room was ready, no one was available to help with our case, which was a negative. The room was a let down and smelt peculiarly, we complained and the housekeeper agreed and we were moved to another room. Unfortunately the new room wasn t aired and felt cold. But we excused this as the room was lovely, the whole hotel was cold we believe because of the storms the hotel was without heating the previous week and was taking its time for the fibre of the building to reheat.
We were one of only two couples staying at the hotel, so surprisingly had to seek out service for drinks and menus on many occasions.
Afternoon tea was excellent. Evening meals were good, but would have been even better if served hot. Breakfast was amazing!
On the first evening we sat with the other two residents in the lounge around the only working open (gas) fire, which was cosy and we all got on. At 10.45 pm a member of staff came and turned the fire off, saying he had to go home, remember it was too cold to sit without the fire so after a short while we went to our rooms.
This is not intended to be a negative review, it was a lovely hotel and the Lake District was recovering from the storms, but it could have been a great deal better.
The only reason we will not be returning is because of its proximity away from the town.

Wonderful 1 night break, fabulous welcome, food and location.
Warm and Welcoming
Lovely, quirky little hotel. Cosy and friendly, good food and drink. Just the place when you get back in from the Lake District weather. Convenient for walking, public transport and Bowness. We did get noise from kitchen extractor in our room but this is switched off from 10pm to 6 or 7am.

Enjoyable one night stay on DBB basis with afternoon tea. Comfortable 1st floor superior room with all amenities, overlooking side car park with some disturbance from deliveries to kitchen. Food very good, restaurant somewhat lacking in atmosphere (probably due to Covid restrictions). Wonderful attentive staff.
