Strange to find no obvious reception (the room itself is hidden by the front do and not well signed - it looked like a storage area.).
The bedroom room was somewhat disappointing in cleanliness with cobwebs on the inside of the windows and hair in the bath plug blocking it.

We have of course passed your comments to housekeeping regarding the room.
We do have a separate reception area that is quite informal, I am sorry if this was not to your liking.

This could be a really fantastic hotel but needs to pay attention to detail. Our room was not serviced one day with no apology or offer to clean it. Had the impression that the hotel was being run as cheaply as possible and without professional staff. A false economy.

Disappointing.

Usually stay in Keswick Country Manor.  Came here for a change. Enjoyed our stay but did prefer Keswick Country Manor.  Rooms were nicer, food was better also a lot cheaper. Came here for my partner's 60th. Have to say, that the staff are very helpful and pleasant.

Perfect reception, staff pleased to help, room and facilities excellent, afternoon tea best ever, BUT we had booked dinner for 8.30. As it was 5 courses it needed to be eaten gently and with time between courses. We were badgered by staff walking out of the kitchen and starring and the restaurant manager approaching us twice in 5 minutes. We did not have pudding. Totally spoilt birthday treat.

A Beautiful building in a wonderful location and excellent food and service. however, what should have been a classic comfortable country house hotel was marred by frenetic over elaborate decor. Plastic flowers and a great deal of clutter in the public rooms. The owners should take a look at the nearby Blackwell house to see how simplicity of decor can enhance a house of that era

I have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions but felt that this visit was not as good as in the past.
Asked if we required the room to be serviced replied yes but on returning to our room on the second day found this had not been done on asking reception why was informed that the room service had not been recorded on their computer. I would expect all rooms to be serviced unless requested not too.
There was no hot water in any rooms on the second morning until after 8am.
The bill was wrong with extra charges added and had to be corrected (could have been delt with better staff were not very pleasant even though it was their fault).
Some staff were very pleasant but a couple could smile a bit more often and could do with more training on dealing with customers

We have contacted the hotel regarding this and the room servicing had been an oversight and was rectified by their Reception staff when you let them know.

The water issue was due to the boiler going off unexpectedly, but was rectified as soon as they were aware and apologies were made.

The extra charges on the room billing was an error due to the accommodation rate on the booking system but they apologised and corrected the error straightaway.

Hotel excellent, room excellent. Unpleasant staff in restaurant and bar spoilt are stay apart from the young girl who served breakfast. We felt we were a nuisance and inconvenience to them.
