Cragwood Country House

Geoff, South Yorkshire, stayed: October 2021

An excellent hotel offering value for money, the ambiance of the hotel and gardens was really lovely. All the staff were very helpful and made us feel welcome. The hotel was well placed for where we wanted to go on and around Lake Windermere. The evening dinner was first class and so too for the breakfast. I shall definitely visit this hotel again.

Lovely view , dated room

Anon, stayed: October 2021

Midweek overnight stay, lovely approach to hotel. Had a Lake view room, and the view was amazing . Room however very dated . Clean but in need of a renovation, or at least remove the horrendous wallpaper. Bathroom very clean but extremely small, more of a cloak room with a bath.
There was a wedding on when we arrived which took over the downstairs bar area felt very awkward . Thankfully they were at the other side of the hotel in the evening, until the returned to the bar below our room . Horrendous noise noise till early hours . Not the relaxing birthday break we were expecting

So Good...

B&M, North Yorks, stayed: September 2021

....we have booked again for next year! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and couldn't find fault. as well as the hotel itself the grounds are fabulous with walks which take you down to the lake. The hotel is in such a lovely and convenient location. the food was first class as was the service by all the staff.

A delightful return to the Lakes

GW, Cambridgeshire, stayed: September 2021

My wife and I don't often stay in hotels; when we do, it's quite a treat. Earlier this year I was looking for something special for our 30th wedding anniversary, and happened on Cragwood through Offpeak Luxury Hotels. It looked just the ticket and we were not disappointed. We spent five nights there soon after the end of school holidays, when crowds had subsided a bit. The setting is fabulous: a pre-supper drink on the terrace as the sun goes down became our regular treat after each day out in the Lakes. It would be hard to find a better view; the gardens are lovely, and well maintained, and the quiet is magical. In the main the hotel is tastefully and elegantly furnished. Dinner in the restaurant each night was quite superb at every level. The staff are uniformly helpful and accommodating and give the impression that Cragwood is a happy place to work at. Because we were on a bargain rate we weren't eligible for a room with a lake view: but that's fair enough. The only thing that spoilt our time - and it only did so a little - was one rather noisy mid-week wedding party: their exuberance didn't really suit the blissfully peaceful environment. But weddings are an important source of revenue for the hotel; numbers are limited to 20 during the week and other wedding parties were more restrained. We have the happiest memories of our stay there and don't think we could have found anywhere we would have enjoyed more.
