Disability
At the time of booking the hotel, I asked if it was disability friendly and was told it was, we were given a room with a walk in shower, as far as it being a disable room that was it. When people book this hotel they should be asked how tall they are because if they are shorter than 5ft6 they need to have a stool to be able to get in bed, and the toilet was not a disability high toilet. I was unable to sit in the garden as there was no access there were no ramps to give access there were only steps. We didn't the menu was al a carte I had steak on my 1st night it was like it had come from a shoe repair shop (AWFUL).
Dreadful stay
Room was dark dusty and extremely hot. Too hot and windows painted shut. Managed to open one slightly but drapes covered in paint and dirty. Very unpleasant.. room remained excessively hot and airless. Fans just flicked dust everywhere and we sneezed and wheezed badly. Awful.
Bathroom was also excessively hot. Even cold water was scalding hot!
Unable to cool down and very uncomfortable.
Nowhere to hand clothes etc. No luggage rack.
Wine off- mouldy served in two large glasses. never saw bottle. Sent back. Didn't take order and closed kitchen. Eventually complained. Main meal arrived before starter! Kept hot while starter came. Not fine dining, no way was value for money, certainly not at price charged. Didn't have pudding had enough of poor service and mediocre food by then.
Breakfast was not good either.
Staff unhelpful,We would NOT recommend this Place and the price was far in excess of what we saw, after some wonderful hotels in Scotland which our stay proceeded.

Penny-pinching place where every little thing costs extra. Poor customer focus (e.g. had only Jam for breakfast toast - no Marmite. No Britvic tomato juice at the bar. If you wanted two of the, very small, kipper fillets for breakfast, they said that would cost extra). Bill for your stay was sent to your email address - no print out of bill upon leaving. Had a massage in the spa ( 80) and, with only 30 mins until closing, was denied access to therapy pool because I could get into real trouble if I allowed that as you are not allowed in without paying ). They seem to have decided what they are prepared to provide, and won t deviate from it. Public rooms rather cold. Make you come down to the conservatory for a drink before ordering dinner - rather cheeky.
Lovely setting but needs investment
The view from the restaurant over the valley is beautiful. However the view from our room was of some AC units on a roof. Disappointing for our luxury mini break. The food in the bistro was mediocre. The spa was also quite tired with some of the jets not working or blowing out cold water. We we re both disappointed at the quality at this hotel however it was still a relaxing night away.
Pleasant stay
Lovely building and gardens
Staff very pleasant and professional
Food excellent
Room had cobwebs and the pipes were noisy
TV reported as faulty but nothing done
Near an industrial estate
Stay OK but pricey for what it is
Faded Glory
Great staff. Outstanding meal first night worse than a greasy spoon second night in the Bistro restaurant. Very tired decor , gloomy and no lit fires. Lounge area depressing. Rooms in the Courtyard area very cramped and in need of a total revamp. However clean, comfortable very warm and lots of hot water. Tea and coffee making facilities in room a plus. Breakfast very good and decent coffee. The spa looked newish but 25 for two hours a bit cheeky. In brief a hotel hanging on by its finger nails but a fantastic deal.

Disappointing
We chose a spa hotel as it was a relaxing night away to celebrate our anniversary. When we got there the reception did not mention the Spa so we looked in the room brochure which said to just go down. Unfortunately when we went to the Spa we were told that it was only available if specifically booked as part of the room rate. It was really disappointing. We also got a cream tea as part of our stay but when it arrived there was a full pot of tea and extra water but only two tiny scones between two people. The menu said a cream tea included two scones per cream tea. We felt cheated. Finally the breakfast was overcooked and inedible. Specifically the poached eggs had been cooked with vinegar and that's all I could taste. The Bacon, black pudding and mushrooms were all hard and dry.
