Parking Facilities
The hotel car park can accommodate up to 60 cars.
Electric car charging: The hotel has a BP Pulse Charger. Guests who already belong to the network can use it under their normal network plan, otherwise local charges apply.
Disabled Access
The hotel has Garden View rooms on the ground floor, these rooms have a step in shower, they are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Please contact us if a ground floor room is required.
All other rooms are accessible via stairs. There are stairs to the main entrance of the hotel.
The hotel does not have a lift.
History of the hotel
Appleby Manor Country House Hotel, located in Appleby, Cumbria was built in 1871 for a wealthy solicitor, John Alcock Heelis, and was originally named Garbridge House.
The building was designed by the noted architect Octavius Hansard and all work was carried out under his supervision. The pink sandstone was cut at the nearby but now disused Heights Quarry, and the entire building is lined with 9 inch brickwork. The location of the building means the public rooms enjoy unparalleled views over Appleby Castle and the Eden Valley, and towards the peaks of the Lake District.
All the internal fittings are of the finest Pitch-Pine, with the exception of the Oak Room Restaurant which, naturally, is paneled in English Oak. This room, therefore, has two doors as its main entrance - Oak on the inside and Pitch-Pine on the outside - so that the continuity of the wood is felt whichever part of the building you are in.
At one time the estate covered a vast expanse and was designed to be completely self-sufficient, with walled gardens, greenhouses, a dairy and stables.
The building was converted into a hotel in the late 1940s and was renamed Appleby Manor Hotel around 1976. It went on to become one of the best Cumbrian Hotels. The Dunbobbin family purchased the hotel in September 2000 and implemented a refurbishment program that has resulted in the hotel being upgraded from AA 3star to AA 4star in October 2007, Appleby Manor Country House Hotel is now one of the finest hotels in the Lake District.
Child Policy
Appleby Manor is a family friendly hotel. Children staying in their parents room up to the age of 16 are charged £15.00 per child per day for extra-bed and breakfast. (Cots are free.)
Children in their own room are charged at 50% of the applicable rate. There are no age restrictions, baby listening service available.

The Rooms at Appleby Manor
Garden View room
These rooms are in the Garden Wing of the main house which was built in 1990.
They are a more modern, contemporary style of room than those the main house. Ground floor rooms have french doors onto a patio, with a table and two chairs and overlook the putting green and the Lake District Fells in the distance. They are the nearest rooms to the Garden Spa. First floor rooms have views over the garden, the beautiful Eden Valley and out over Appleby Castle.
These rooms are all furnished in a contemporary style and include a seating area, tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, flat screen television with Freeview, an iron and ironing board. They are all en-suite with a shower over the bath.
Twin bedded rooms are available on request, please contact us if a Twin bedded room is required.
Deluxe room
Appleby Manor Hotel & Garden Spa offers a number of Deluxe bedrooms, these are located in the Victorian Manor House built in 1871.
The Deluxe rooms, whilst not as large as the Manor House Rooms, have Jetted baths with bathroom television and most have over-bath rainfall showers.
These rooms are furnished in a more traditional style and vary in size and shape as they are adapted from the original rooms of the house, they all include comfortable seating areas, flat screen televisions, tea and coffee facilities, Freeview TV and free wifi connection.
Manor House room
Appleby Manor Hotel & Garden Spa offers a number of luxury Manor House bedrooms, these are located in the main house which was built in 1871.
Refurbished in 2015 these rooms have been individually designed, yet still retain the character of the old Manor House. These rooms are full of character from the Victoria era, and include high ceilings, oak framed windows with views to the front of the hotel, King size bed, and a comfortable seating area.
All of the rooms are maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and include luxury fabrics.
They feature LED televisions, comfortable furnishings, jetted Spa bath & bathroom T.V, Ruark DAB Bluetooth radio, luxury toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, robes and slippers, Segafredo espresso machine, complimentary Newspaper, Freeview T.V and free wi-fi connection.
