Our new favourite British hotel by a country mile
Our stay was to celebrate my husband 70th birthday(a surprise). He was completely delighted with every aspect of our break, as was I. The food was divine, the spa so incredibly relaxing and the lovely log fire was delightful. We loved it so much we want to return in the summers.

Penny-pinching place where every little thing costs extra. Poor customer focus (e.g. had only Jam for breakfast toast - no Marmite. No Britvic tomato juice at the bar. If you wanted two of the, very small, kipper fillets for breakfast, they said that would cost extra). Bill for your stay was sent to your email address - no print out of bill upon leaving. Had a massage in the spa ( 80) and, with only 30 mins until closing, was denied access to therapy pool because I could get into real trouble if I allowed that as you are not allowed in without paying ). They seem to have decided what they are prepared to provide, and won t deviate from it. Public rooms rather cold. Make you come down to the conservatory for a drink before ordering dinner - rather cheeky.
Appleby Manor
Lovely hotel with welcoming staff, fantastic views from the garden.15 minute walk into Appleby.
Large car park with E V charger next to the hotel which we used.
Rooms were cosy with all amenities you could ask for. Ours had large en suite.
Bar and restaurant were welcoming with good service and fantastic choice of food and drinks.
My wife and I will return one day.
We would highly recommend.
Excellent staff and food, rooms a little old
We had a lovely 4 night stay at this property.
The building, staff and food are all lovely.
Rooms are a little out dated and could do with a refurbishment. The rooms do not have aircon which made sleeping in the hot weather a little uncomfortable.
Strangely the bar doesn t have any beer on draft, and sells bottles only.
We accessed the spa pool, and thought it was quite expensive at 20 per person for 2hrs given its small size.
Mr Richard Charter.
We enjoyed our stay very much apart from one thing, our room was no 4 the room was very nice apart from the toilet in the bathroom it was far too cramped.

Faded Glory
Great staff. Outstanding meal first night worse than a greasy spoon second night in the Bistro restaurant. Very tired decor , gloomy and no lit fires. Lounge area depressing. Rooms in the Courtyard area very cramped and in need of a total revamp. However clean, comfortable very warm and lots of hot water. Tea and coffee making facilities in room a plus. Breakfast very good and decent coffee. The spa looked newish but 25 for two hours a bit cheeky. In brief a hotel hanging on by its finger nails but a fantastic deal.
Great place for a country house break
We booked a two night country house break at the Appleby Manor which included a fine dining dinner and a brasserie meal. Both were excellent.
All the staff in the hotel were very friendly, efficient and obviously well trained. The hotel is slightly old fashioned but in a nice way and suits its surroundings
