Wonderful stay
Spent three nights here at the end of September. Everything was excellent. Beautiful building, nice blend of old traditional and modern inside, staff were all friendly, helpful, attentive and professional, and everyone and everything seemed very covid-conscious and safe. Food was fantastic in the Oak restaurant, the bistro, at breakfast and for afternoon tea. Yes, we ate a lot! Wines were also really good quality. Room was spacious, airy, lots of natural light, bed big enough to get lost in and shower the same. Wasn t cheap, but really, really good. Thank you, would definitely come again!
Nice relaxed stay
Nice hotel in a nice quiet location. Lovely modern rooms ( we chose modern rooms). Roomy, clean and nice big bed. Only criticism would be size of tv ( perhaps abit bigger would be better) also located to one side of bed low down. Other than tv location couldn t fault. Nice bathroom with great shower.restaraunt abit posh preferred the bistro. Another fault though being no drought beer, just bottled.
Excellent Stay
Excellent Stay with dinner and breakfast
Very good stay
We stayed at Appleby for two nights. We have stayed here before and we had another good stay. It was the first time we had used the spa (just a small pool last time) and it was excellent. The room was clean and well maintained and the restaurant was good.
Disability
At the time of booking the hotel, I asked if it was disability friendly and was told it was, we were given a room with a walk in shower, as far as it being a disable room that was it. When people book this hotel they should be asked how tall they are because if they are shorter than 5ft6 they need to have a stool to be able to get in bed, and the toilet was not a disability high toilet. I was unable to sit in the garden as there was no access there were no ramps to give access there were only steps. We didn't the menu was al a carte I had steak on my 1st night it was like it had come from a shoe repair shop (AWFUL).
3 day stay
the staff at reception did not know if the restaurant would be able to provide gluten free food for my wife. we had rung before arriving to explain this request. front of house staff need training in this area
Nice overnight relaxation
Arrived early afternoon due to spa booking. Reception was efficient and spa whilst small was relaxing although the steam room not working was disappointing.
Dinner in the Bistro was ok at best with a limited menu and the surroundings lacking a quality feel.
The accommodation was excellent with a nice sized room complete with jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was good in the actual restaurant and check out was quick and easy.
