Happy overall

Anon, stayed: June 2019

We were happy with our overnight stay. The following are not complaints, just observations: the beds and pillows ere rather hard; the bathroom was lovely but had nowhere to put toiletries; the restaurant staff in the evening were inexperienced and a little slow (they were excellent at breakfast). The food in the restaurant was delicious but the service did let it down. Overall though this was a lovely start to our touring holiday

Pleasant stay would revisit

Keith A, Merseyside, stayed: August 2019

The hotel is a very good base for exploring the Dales and Lake District. The staff are very attentive and friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay an enjoyable one. We stayed in the Heelis suite and although it was large with a spacious bathroom it was very warm due to hot water pipes running through the room. The restaurants were very good we tried the gourmet and bistro. We did prefer the bistro which served 'plain' food. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would stay again but chose a a 'garden room'.

An excellent hotel - attractive rooms with fabulous views, friendly, attentive staff, set in beautiful countryside, close to the Lakes but less well known. An ideal spot for a long weekend.

Lovely building and gardens
Staff very pleasant and professional
Food excellent

Room had cobwebs and the pipes were noisy
TV reported as faulty but nothing done
Near an industrial estate

Stay OK but pricey for what it is

A Haven from the Storms

Del, West Cumbria, stayed: February 2020

Despite the raging storms over the weekend, we had a superb Spa day and evening at Appleby Manor Garden.
The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. We were given a much appreciated early check-in as we'd booked the Spa for the day
The Spa takes you to Paradise. Nothing more refreshing than sleet in your face whilst your body's submerged in luxurious hot bubbles!
We had an exceptionally good evening meal - more than we could eat! We slept well, not even aware of the raging wind outside.
At the breakfast table, little books decorated the table - mine was so appropriate as it was my birthday. It made my day. Breakfast was excellent, hot, fresh and customised to your taste.
It was my husband's first visit, but he's now smitten! We'll be returning very soon!

A lovely stay

Michael H, Lancashire, stayed: September 2020

Booked a night for our anniversary and were not disappointed. From phone calls before our stay right through to checking out, staff were friendly, courteous and professional. Lovely surroundings - were very lucky to see the Settle/Carlisle steam train Through a gap in the trees. Covid awareness was red-hot, but we didn t try the spa just in case. Would have no hesitation staying again
