Room 125
The staff are all really nice. Olga and another lady I can t remember (catering manager) were first class. The restaurant is lovely and the menus were excellent. However .in our room , the bed was fairly uncomfortable and the pillows need an upgrade. There was no bedside light on one side and the other one was so dim it s impossible to read in bed. The shower is devoid of power whereas the sink has loads of pressure. There is a towel rail which isn t switched on and it does say if you want to use the same towel every day (which I was happy to do) there ll be wet the next morning. So I asked to change them. I would stay again if the bed was better.
Charming Grand Hotel
The reception was a little indifferent. Our room which was not easy to locate, was in the attic: although not a tall man it was too easy to bang my head on the low beams.
The room was comfortable and, like the shower room it was clean. The evening meal was elegantly served and presented. The food was excellent. The bar staff were helpful and efficient and remained calm under the pressures of the demands of a large coach party. The hotel stands above the town in its own grounds and has a certain charm of grand dame of a hotel.
Autumn stay on the edge of the Lake District.at a comfortable hotel.
Very comfortable hotel us with staff anxious to please.Dinner service was rather slow due to large coach party being resident.

Comfortable, clean, friendly and helpful staff. Good food (both dinner and breakfast.
Very good base for exploring Furness and the southern Lake District.

Beck review
Only 2 criticisms for an otherwise very enjoyable break.
1. Our booking through the Daily Telegraph included a room upgrade. We didn t get one! We finished up with a room at the back of the hotel, facing a 10 foot blank wall.
2 The sleeping policeman need some warning such as white paint. I feel sure sure I ve damaged my car.

A taste of 5 star luxury
Very enjoyable break, wish we had stayed longer, definitely the best hotel we have stayed at.
Weekend break
We stayed for 2 nights using a Daily Telegraph voucher which could explain why our room on the first night was over the wedding party disco which went on until 11.30pm hence the lower grading. They said no other room was available. However, we were upgraded for the second night into a very comfortable room with a distant sea view and an excellent bed. Unusually, the bath was in the bedroom but not a problem and the ensuite was very good. Everywhere was clean and bright. The restaurant needs special attention as the food was excellent and the staff very attentive. The promenade around Morecombe Bay was within easy reach as was the town centre.
