Really enjoyable and clen
The Hotel is really well positioned next to Windermere, on arrival was very warm and welcoming, staff was very pleasant and helpful, the room was really nice and lovely view over the lake, most definitely be going again highly recommended.
Not as 'Off Peak Luxury' as we hoped
The hotel was known to us from a previous visit but the location of our room was a real disappointment. Perhaps had we not been required to postpone due to the pandemic we may have enjoyed a more deluxe double room as we had originally booked but by the time we were able to visit, the hotel was much more busy. Overall an expensive couple of nights and not much of a memorable experience. In future we would be more inclined to book direct with the hotel rather than with a third party company offering 'extras' to secure the deal.

Overall we enjoyed our three day stay at the hotel. We were very disappointed with the meals served in the dining room, The breakfasts were poor and we found it difficult to believe that a full English could be cooked so badly. Complaints to the staff about this were dismissed as they thought we were joking!
Anyway we thought the hotel was letting itself down by not addressing this properly
Overall a nice hotel
The location is perfect however the room was very small. I did not receive my complimentary drink on arrival even though I asked. i was told that they would sort it out which they never did. this is one of the reasons for booking with Off Peak Luxury
Our stay at the Old England
First time back after 40 years found it overpriced for a so called super luxury room
Very small bedroom and bed and small bathroom expect more for 200 a night will not be stopping again Overpriced food and wine
Disappointing
We have stayed at The Old England a few times and the evening meal has been very disappointing in recent years but gave it another try, we both had steak and paid a supplement of 12 each which was rather expensive, the meat was good but the chips let it down, obviously re-heated and cooked in disgusting oil. We stayed in room 233 the furthest room from reception and was disappointed with room. We have previously stayed in a balcony room on the ground floor which was so much nicer. We didn t feel paying for a so called premium room was worth the extra. We had the complimentary drink on arrival and then was charged for it on check out, with the receptionist following us to the car, most embarrassing. We would stay here again due to the excellent location.
Don't book a balcony room
As a treat my partner booked a 2 night stay in a balcony room.. I was very looking forward to staying in this room and fully expected a view of the lake.. Wrong.. Was more like a tetra e with a 5 foot wall. Partial view of lake and better view of car park. I believe I was put in this room as I had not booked direct.. A complete sham.. Definetly was not worth the money.. When I complained said basically hotel is full bit could move us the following day.. Not great when you are only staying 2 nights. Then said they would give us Dinner if we stayed put in the room we were go em... Sad as it was my 50th birthday weekend a year late due to lockdown... Don't waste your money on a balcony room. A room with no view. The assistant manager James was very nice but in sure he totally understood it was not what we had booked
