Little Gem At Windermere
What a little Gem this Hotel is, nestled within walking distance of Bowness on Windermere I was taken aback by the ambiance and quirkiness of the interior. It was nice to see it had retained it's connection to Beatrix Potter and was furnished accordingly. The restaurant and quality of the food was excellent as were the very friendly staff who were coping well with covid restrictions, I cannot wait to return after lockdown.
Luxury in the lakes
Lovely hotel, within walking distance of Bowness,we stayed in a deluxe double room overlooking the garden food very good with plenty of choice. We had high tea one afternoon which was so nice.Decor all themed on Beatrix Potter One of the best assets of the hotel are the staff who are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble . Coved rules were adhered to by staff and other guests. We are already looking forward to returning next spring for our 3rd stay.
Two day break
Very friendly and helpful staff. Felt that the hotel had put in place sufficient measures to make guests feel safe re Covid. Two disappointments were the bedroom was showing its age and needed updating and the restaurant menu which was limited was the same both nights we were at the hotel.
Lovely weekend away. Staff excellent.
Lovely hotel with beautiful views over Lake Windermere. Staff very nice and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Food excellent especially the sea bass (main) and reworked apple toffee crumble (dessert)
Enjoyed our stay previous room larger 205 to our last. Friendly staff
Wonderfully presented hotel surrounded by tranquil gardens. Short staffed & lacking service.
We both loved the outside space at this hotel, quiet and peaceful gardens overlooking Lake Windermere.
The location is set a little out of town for local pubs and restaurants but easily accessible by taxi, if needed.
The reception area and check-in was faultless and we stayed in a spacious, albeit very dark room.
The bar and restaurant were both disaster zones. The food menu (plastic laminated sheet) resembling something from an 80 s roadside caf .
Overcooked, bland food. Limited vegetarian options. No check-back. It all felt very rushed and clinical. We ordered some drinks (which failed to materialise) and decided to eat elsewhere the next evening.
Some staff members did their very best but many were generally quite rude, disinterested and distant. Admittedly, it felt like many diners were a nuissance rather than being treated as guests.
Needless to say, having declined to eat on our 2nd night and travel elsewhere, we were puzzled when a hefty (optional) service charge was applied to our bill on check-out.
Overall, the hotel sits in a great location but unfortunately is far from what I would refer to as a fine country break .
Kay & Mike Hayes loved this hotel & will definitely be back. Thankyou
Absolutely loved the character of this hotel such quirky furnishing it's a credit to the designer. Food, staff, hotel room was fabulous even had a lovely balcony next to our room to sit & relax after our day out walking. Great deal will definitely return & bring friends.
