Good but could be better

Overall we enjoyed our stay and any criticism is designed to be constructive. Dinner in the restaurant was unvarying over 4 nights and was very gourmet-orientated. More choice and some 'rustic'/ traditional dishes would add variety. The wine list is over-priced and lacks everyday wines; strangely many of the listed wines were unavailable and staff had to provide suggested substitutes. We appreciate that your domestic staff are short-handed, but not to have the room serviced each day is unusual in an hotel of this stature.

Two Special Days

We were given a very good welcome, arriving a little bit ahead of scheduled time, we were shown into a comfortable sitting area. It was our first visit to the Lakes and were blessed by two absolutely stunning days, we sat out in the garden until late and enjoyed a delicious imaginative dinner. I think as the hotel has been extended from what was once a large private house, finding our way around inside could be somewhat confusing! Found ourselves with other guests discovering different staircases! All the staff could not have been more warm and friendly and the housekeeping staff were working so well and efficiently over a very busy time with a wedding reception taking place. We loved our stay and would love to visit again. Cragwood is a special, comfortable hotel.

Lovely peaceful setting

Lovely hotel, very welcoming staff and delicious food.
Short of staff but overall this did not affect our stay.

Excellent stay. Couldn t fault anything. Except very pricey wine. A real put off. Bottle of screw top Syrah 27. Real shame. Would like to stay longer next time but very undecided.

Return visit

Second time at cragwood booked the sane trip as last feb, all as good, really lovely stay, all staff fabulous,the only thing we did not get an upgraded room as we did last year, that reslly is the icing in the cake, although it says if available , will be returning again!

Midweek break

A delightful and interesting country house, set in extensive grounds with views over Windermere.
The restaurant delighted us with imaginative beautifully presented dishes and the room was comfortable and restful.

Lovely location and nice interior

We loved the location and the hotel. My only comment would be that disapointment in the lack of sound proffing and light which passed from an ajoining romm to ours. The alternative fire escape passed into the neigbouring room. From 6am we could hear every noise from the neighbouring room and light bassed under the door. We passed this onto the reception on departure , I hope something can be done as it did spoil our stay. This appled to Room 5 which was stunning if this addional door hadnt been there.
