visited this hotel last wek for 4 days for my wifes 60th birthday

The Anzani's and pebbles, stayed: October 2024

what a little gem we found with this hotel . The hotel is in its own grounds which back onto lake Windermere , From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out we have an absolute amazing stay . the rooms were very niece , spacious and very comfortable , the beds were a dream to sleep in as well . we also had a beautiful view of the hotel grounds from our bedroom window which made it that bit extra special . The food we ate eon each of the 4 nights we staid was al a la carte and was absolutely fabulous and the choice of food was right up there with the best i have seen . All The staff at the hotel were excellent , from the moment we checked in all they wanted to do was help and please you . we took our little dog and wanted her to be with when we ate our food , Dogs was not allowed in the restaurant part of the hotel which is very understanding , The staff made up a private table in the breakfast area so we could have our little girl with us and had romantic music played dimly in the background which made the whole thing feel very romantic , my wife loved it , especially with us being the only people in there it made it feel really special , it also made it feel as if we had our own private waiter / waitress service for each evening , i must say every waiter or waitress that served us right through our stay was very helpful and very good at there jobs and made our stay feel special , i would like to thank all of you for that wonderful experience . what made the 4 day break even better was the wonderful weather that we had during our stay , which i was told is very unusual for this time of the year . This may have been our first stay in the lake district area, but i can assure you it will not be our last , as my wife would now like to make this a regular visit each September for our Anniversary . so Crag wood Manor look out the Anzani's and little pebbles will be visiting again next year , we are already looking forward to visiting your lovely manor house again . once again i would like to thanks you and all your staff for making this a very special 4 day break .

Excellent Find

Simon D, West Yorkshire, stayed: October 2024

We stayed in the hotel for two nights whilst in the Lake District and was very nice. We ate in the Restaurant both evenings as part of our package. The Food was excellent in presentation, taste and portion size. We felt the quality of service given was lacking attention to detail which unfortunately was a shame, staff not pro active in upselling drinks you had to ask, never leave the table empty handed, spare cutlery, glasses, empty bread plates left on the table throughout the meal, these should have been collected as we did not have any further use for them.

But overall a very enjoyable experience and I would stay at the hotel again.

We would return.

Anne L, Shropshire, stayed: October 2024

We spent three nights at Cragwood with friends. Both couples were most satisfied with the accommodation & the ideal location for exploring the Lake District. Staff were always on hand to help or answer questions. We ate twice in the formal dining room & once in the bar area. The bar & dining room have different menus.

The views over the garden & towards Lake Windermere were stunning; we would return again.

Absolutely amazing

Sue B, Essex, stayed: October 2024

We were impressed when we parked our car and got our first look at the hotel, however when we were shown our room we were completely blown away. Four poster bed, double aspect windows overlooking the lake and absolutely luxurious. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the location superb. Our only criticism was the menu, which was the same both nights we stayed there. A different menu would have been good. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.

Wonderful place for a special celebration

DL, Lancashire, stayed: September 2024

We recently visited The Cragwood Hotel for a couple of nights to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We had booked on an off peak luxury deal so we knew our room wouldn t be the best in the house. Nevertheless the room was warm, very clean and the bathroom only recently refurbished so everything worked beautifully and we were very comfortable. We were even able to take Sandy, our dog so he had a little break too. We only had a view of the car park but we weren t intending to stay in our room and look out of the window anyway. We were so lucky and had the most amazing weather which we enjoyed to the full. A pre dinner drink on the terrace watching the sunset over Lake Windermere was a particular lovely memory.

The thing that made our stay extra special was the staff. They were all super helpful, friendly and welcoming. From Helen on reception, to Sarah who showed us how the coffee machine worked in our room and checked we had all we needed, to Shannon our waitress who, I believe is also the night porter and to all the other South African staff who seemed to have been magnetically drawn to work at this hotel! The food was beyond our expectations and as someone who is diary intolerant, the kitchen couldn t have been more helpful. I didn t feel like I was missing out as the recipes seemed to have been devised so that items could be easily swapped or omitted. The lamp rump was especially delicious! We do so appreciate wonderful food, so the dinners and breakfasts were really appreciated as being top class. Top marks to the chefs and kitchen staff.

The hotel is in the Arts and Crafts style, that at first seems a little sparse. It s a particular aesthetic, but once we d appreciated this, we could understand the decor better. It is the opposite of cluttered. It was lovely to see a lot of original features still intact from fireplaces to beautiful plaster moulding, original panelling and doors. The only room we didn t think had worked regarding the interior design was the breakfast dining room, we couldn t quite understand why but we loved the library and dining room.

All in all a memorable stay in a lovely hotel with fabulous grounds, the staff make it extra special. We d love to go again sometime.

A lovely break

The restaurant was excellent quality only marred by the limited menu choice.
Otherwise, an enjoyable stay.

Really good with excellent food.

MB, Lancashire, stayed: August 2024

Booked a one break and was not disappointed. The ground floor room was spotless, the staff helpful and friendly and the dinner was fantastic. Excellent value for money and will definitely return. The only minor down side was because of the layout of the hotel we had cross a short outside courtyard to get, from our ground floor room to the dining room but it was well worth it for the superb dinner.

Such a nice hotel

Barry, Kent, stayed: August 2024

So the room we had was one of the cheaper options however my other half fell in love with it, only small grown was there were no slippers or dressing groan and she does like to wear slippers, we normally take our own (we are also young still before you judge) its just a hygiene thing.
The Hotel is beautiful, even on a rain filled day, we sat by the window, looked out over the lake and had a bear and could have spent the weekend there alone.
Again you must use Country Break Hotels (CBH), I can not shout about this site enough. We had the most amazing time and again thank you to the team at the hotel for the little touches making our trip a beautiful one.
