Charming peaceful hideaway.

Set in well kept grounds that look over the lake this country house delivers for a fabulous break away. The restaurant is certainly not to be missed with its 5 course fine dining menu.

Spring Break

SK, Cumbria, stayed: April 2024

This was our first time to stay at Cragwood Country House, and we would definitely stay again. I loved that the Arts and Crafts part of the house still remained of its era, but had been sympathetically updated to retain the character. To see this was one of my main reasons for choosing Cragwood and I was not disappointed. The only, and I mean only, thing I would mention is that the standing space of the bathroom in our lovely room in the old part of the hotel was tiny. My husband had to leave the door open so that he could lift his arms to use and basin and dry himself from the shower!! Our bathroom and the one in the next room were behind our headboard and no soundproofing had been used in the conversion. I know it is difficult to adapt large rooms in old houses for modern use, but I am sure I will not be the only person to comment on this who stays in the room. However one adapts and finds ways round it. it is only a very small part of the stay!!

Set evening meal disapointing

Anon, stayed: July 2024

Hotel accommodation was 5* . Staff were very welcoming on arrival. However the set meal in the evening was very poor and although 5 courses they were all very small portions, left the table after eating still hungry. Breakfast the following morning was very good and cooked to order.

A perfect stay in a luxurious hotel, with panoramic views.

Catriona, East Sussex, stayed: July 2024

We had a wonderful stay at Cragwood Country House. A very scenic location, overlooking Lake Windermere, with beautiful and extensive grounds. The staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming and, on arrival, we were upgraded to a huge room, with its own lovely sitting area outside, surrounded by bright flowers. We appreciated the bottle of chilled prosecco in a bucket of ice awaiting us and luxurious toiletries, plus a jar of sweets. The included amazing gourmet dinner and delicious breakfast were both superb and service excellent. We enjoyed a lovely boat trip around the lake from the jetty, only a ten minute walk away, and will definitely return to explore this beautiful area more and experience staying at this wonderful, luxurious hotel again.

LET DOWN BY RESTAURANT

Anon, stayed: July 2024

On arrival at hotel given dining time of 7.00 pm,which we had requested as we don't like to eat late, for both evenings. On evening 2 we had our usual pre dinner drink at 6.30 and arrived at restaurant for 7.00 only to be told, with no adequate explanation, that we couldn't eat until 8.00. At 8.00 pm we were seated and had to wait 20 minutes without any sign of food. The prolonged service continued until at 9.45 we abandoned the wait to order a pudding and went to our room. A great pity as the food was extremely good.

Such a nice hotel

Barry, Kent, stayed: August 2024

So the room we had was one of the cheaper options however my other half fell in love with it, only small grown was there were no slippers or dressing groan and she does like to wear slippers, we normally take our own (we are also young still before you judge) its just a hygiene thing.
The Hotel is beautiful, even on a rain filled day, we sat by the window, looked out over the lake and had a bear and could have spent the weekend there alone.
Again you must use Country Break Hotels (CBH), I can not shout about this site enough. We had the most amazing time and again thank you to the team at the hotel for the little touches making our trip a beautiful one.
