Exceptional holiday

I stayed with three friends and the whole experience was above our expectations. We had two rooms
and one (garden room) was exceptional. Staff were so helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. The
food compared favourably with any Michelin starred restaurant (I should think!).
I can't speak too highly of it.

Beautiful Borrowdale

Borrowdale Gates is a wonderful hotel, ideal for a special occasion such as ours. It is set in scenic grounds with delightful views to the fells. Peace and birdsong reign supreme. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the public areas spacious, comfortable and, again, with amazing views.The staff are knowledgeable, efficient but, above all, friendly. The restaurant and cuisine is excellent in all respects. Compliments to the chef and his team. Many thanks to everyone. We would love ro revisit Borrowdale Gates.

Excellent stay

Overall we were very happy with our three night stay. The only negative aspect was the extractor unit near our room which made a continual hum. That was OK during the day but disturbed our sleep at night. The hotel might like to consider if it can be made more quiet, or turned off at night.
Otherwise everything was very good and we would recommend staying here.

Excellent hotel

The Hotel was excellent in every degree. The food was outstanding and, overall, the stay at the Hotel for the quality provided was extremely good value for money.

This is an excellent hotel, in a glorious location.
Our room was comfortable and nicely located on the ground floor, with a terrace leading out onto the garden.
The restaurant was really good and we ate well.
Above all, we found the staff welcoming, helpful and keen to please.

Favourite hotel

We have taken short breaks in the Lake District for over 30 years but this has been our first stay in Borrowdale Gates. I can honestly say that this is one of the most relaxing hotels in which we have ever stayed. The room, with its wonderful mountain views and a balcony from which to enjoy them was spacious and comfortable.
The fabulous food and the prompt waitress/waiter service was unobtrusive but most efficient
