The location was great
The room however was closterphobic and extremely hot with no view at all

Slightly disappointed in the room but great food

We originally booked a superior double room but were later told only a twin room was available. We were assured this was also a superior room but we were disappointed in the size of the room itself - only the bathroom could be designated 'superior' as it had a separate shower and corner bath. We were offered a small discount which we accepted.
The meals, however, were definitely superior - nicely presented and cooked just as we had asked. We requested an alternative starter one evening and were given a beautiful fruit salad.

Good but not perfect

We arrived and checked in. According to the hotel notes in the room, we should have been offered a drink on arrival (tea,coffee,soft). This didn't happen. No matter, we went to our room and proceeded to make our own cup of tea.. In the welcome pack, there was a pack of biscuits, opened with one biscuit remaining. Not a good start. On unpacking, we then found a pair of socks left in one of the drawers. We had preprandial drinks in the bar, ordered our meal and wine to accompany it. As the Starter and Main were were seafood, we chose a Sauvignon Blanc.. The Starter was excellent, but the main when it arrived was a beef dish. The waiter was perfunctory in his handling of the situation, and almost challenged us on the order. I was able to point to the chilled wine container of white wine there to accompany the seafood meal.. The food really was excellent both evenings and most of the staff were polite and pleasant.

Could do better!!

The Hotel is in an extremely pleasant situation. The Staff were always helpful although some older staff were a bit grumpy and obviously required more training.The menu for Dinner was very
ambitious but I believe on occasions the actual food was not of the best quality.

Enjoyed a relaxing time with amazing food

Relaxing break in beautiful surroundings

We wanted to get away from the rush of everyday life for a couple of days and this was the perfect place to do so. The hotel provided a comfortable room, excellent food and very friendly and attentive staff and all set in stunning Lakeland scenery with beautiful views and opportunities for countryside walks. Ideal place to recharge our batteries. Very glad we made this choice.

Excellent cheerful staff, always willing to help.
Kitchen team consistently produced first class dinners.
We were a party of 8 and all are of the same view.
A most enjoyable break.
