Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting

This gem of a hotel benefits from a beautiful location, brilliant staff and fantastic food.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 3 nights in the Scafell room with great views from the Juliet balcony, spacious room and a comfy bed.
The lounge and bar areas are lovely to relax in and the outside gardens a very relaxing place to read, stroll around and enjoy.
The restaurant was spacious and the large windows all the way around gave a great sense of space and light as well as wonderful views down the valley. It was also a great place to watch many species of birds on the feeders. All the staff were wonderful, caring and attentive and we enjoyed a good chat with a few of them. All in all a great place and we will definitely be back.

Excellent stay

We stayed for 2 nights and were made to feel very welcome. It s the little touches like complimentary tea & biscuits on arrival, help with luggage and the inclusion of tea/coffee & petit fours after dinner that make the difference. The room (Mandarin) was extremely comfortable with a large bathroom with bath & separate shower; it was also very quiet and we slept very well, before waking to the incredible views of the fells. The food was exceptional with a great choice at both dinner and breakfast, all presented very attractively and served by the pleasant and helpful staff. If you want to walk in the local area there is no need to use the car, but the hotel is equally well located for visiting Keswick and the surrounding areas of the Lakes. The lounge area is very welcoming and relaxing with views over the garden. We were lucky enough to spot the local red squirrels as well as the birds on the feeders outside the restaurant. We would love to return for another visit.

Beautiful Borrowdale Hotel

Absolutely fabulous stay, just wish it could have been longer. Borrowdale is stunning and after a hot day walking the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere was all we needed. The hotel is in a quiet location with fantastic views and contemporary decor. Food was faultless and the staff so friendly.

The hotel was great in every way this was especially important as we had taken 9 hours to get there due to hold ups on the M6!

Relaxing break in a stunning location

We enjoyed a 2 night break at the Borrowdale Gates hotel which has stunning views of the surrounding Fells from the lounge, restaurant and gardens. Meals were excellent the staff are very welcoming and service is first class. We booked a deluxe room and on arrival were allocated a family room. with an adjacent twin bedded space but it was very disappointing that the branches of a very tall tree obscured the view from the balcony! Overall, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay.
